NAU Country Insurance Company Introduces Harvest Advisor
RAMSEY, Minn., Sept. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NAU Country Insurance Company, a division of QBE Insurance Group Ltd. and one of the largest crop insurance providers in the U.S., introduces their new crop management tool Harvest Advisor, which is part of a suite of tools in Field Insights™. These tools help farmers with crop growth models, spray conditions and other weather related information down to the field level. The addition of Harvest Advisor to Field Insights provides financial and weather related harvest information.
With corn prices down, every bit of cost savings and yield increase helps farmers. NAU Country's farmers know their crops, however, sometimes getting a second opinion on when to harvest can mean the difference between a loss and a profitable year. Field Insights can be that second opinion, with its newest feature, Harvest Advisor. Harvest Advisor looks at the optimum harvest moisture for supported crops, along with the user's target moisture and then projects the ideal time to harvest.
Research out of Ohio State University on field drying and scheduling harvest shows that harvesting corn at an optimum harvest moisture level can decrease your harvest loss from 2% to 8%, down to 1% to 2%.
While testing Field Insights Harvest Advisor with several claims adjusters, here is what NAU Country's Senior Vice President of Claims, Mark Mossman, had to say. "Harvest Advisor takes the guesswork out of harvesting… whether you aim to harvest early to minimize harvest loss percentages, or delay harvest to avoid high dry down cost for long term storage."
Field Insights Harvest Advisor is available to farmers through their NAU Country agent. It can be accessed through our QBE NAU mobile app and through our Policyholder Portal website.
