Natular DT Mosquito Larvicide Tablets Now Available Direct to Homeowners
Professional-grade Larvicide Used to Combat Zika in Florida Can Help Control Mosquito Breeding Sites in Backyard Containers
ST. CHARLES, Ill., Feb. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, Natular DT larvicidal tablets, used in the fight against Zika, are available for consumer purchase from Clarke Consumer Products.
Available exclusively at Amazon.com, the Natular DT Tablets are offered in blister packs of 12 tablets, and can control mosquito breeding in containers of water as large as 50 gallons for up to 2 months.
"Natular larvicides were developed with the Aedes aegypti mosquito in mind," said David McLaughlin, VP of Marketing for Clarke. "This container-breeding mosquito can transmit diseases like Zika, dengue and chikungunya – and Natular DT tablets are proven effective at controlling breeding of these mosquitoes."
Natular larvicides – including the Natular DT tablet -- were awarded the U.S. EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge award in 2010, and the Natular line of products were the first larvicides evaluated as reduced risk by the U.S. EPA.
"The battle against Zika is fought in backyards," said McLaughlin. "Zika mosquitoes do not travel far from where they breed, so by treating breeding sites like fish ponds, rain barrels and other containers, homeowners can stop mosquitoes from breeding and provide a greater level of protection to their families and community."
Municipalities and health departments in Florida distributed Natular DT tablets in packages known as Z-Kits to homeowners in 2016 to help protect residents from the threat of mosquito-borne diseases like Zika. The Natular DT tablet features an effervescent layer that immediately kills mosquito larvae and a slow-release layer offers long-lasting control for up to 60 days.
