Nation's Top GM Recall Attorney Thomas J. Henry Met with Congressional Leaders Prior to House Committee Hearing with Mary Barra and Anton Valukas
Firm is Representing More than 1,200 GM Recall Injury and Death Victims
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas J. Henry, the nation's top GM recall attorney, met with Congressional leaders this morning and held a press conference to address GM victim concerns in anticipation of the Congressional testimony of GM CEO Mary Barra and GM internal investigator Anton Valukas.
Last Thursday, former U.S. Attorney Anton Valukas released the findings of his internal investigation into GM's handling of the ignition switch recall which has been linked to numerous accidents, injuries, and deaths over the last 10 years. His report faulted GM for its delayed handling of the recall but did not find any evidence of a cover-up on the part of the company. Valukas and Barra faced questioning today from the House Energy and Commerce Committee regarding the report.
Meanwhile, Thomas J. Henry continues to push for compensation for the firm's injured clients and the families of those individuals who lost loved ones in accidents involving GM vehicles recalled for defective ignitions.
"I will continue to put pressure on GM to act responsibly and compensate victims," lead attorney Thomas J. Henry stated.
Families of the Injured and Killed Attended Congressional Hearing
A number of families who lost loved ones were present at the hearing today, waiting to hear an explanation for why the deadly ignition switch defect was not discovered by GM for ten years. Pictures of their loved ones lined the wall in the back of the room.
"It was important for these victims and family members to be there to help GM put faces to this tragedy," Thomas J. Henry stated.
One of the victims present was Trenton Buzard, who was paralyzed in a Chevy Cobalt accident in 2009 when he was just one-year-old. The accident claimed the lives of his great-grandmother and aunt. Trenton remains permanently paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. He is now 6-years-old.

On June 16, 2014, GM announced a recall on an additional 3.19 million vehicles for problems similar to those which triggered the initial ignition switch recall. This recall involves the following vehicles: 2005-2009 Buick Lacrosse, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, 2000-2005 Cadillac Deville, 2004-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2004-2005 Buick Regal LS and GS, and 2006-2008 Monte Carlo.[1]
According to the Center for Auto Safety, 143 fatal accidents may have been caused by airbag non-deployment in the Chevy Impala vehicles alone.[2]

"As the recall list continues to expand, we are getting more and more clients asking us for help," Thomas J. Henry stated. "We will continue to investigate this latest recall and hold GM responsible for all injuries and deaths found to be caused by their defective vehicles."
