Nation's Largest Kidney Coalition to Host Webinar to Discuss the Release of the Comprehensive 'Strategic Blueprint' for Improving Kidney Care Quality
WASHINGTON, March 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Thursday, March 13 at 1 p.m. ET, Kidney Care Partners (KCP) will host a Webinar to discuss the release of the Strategic Blueprint for Advancing Kidney Care Quality. The strategic blueprint was the result of a community-wide initiative launched at a national KCP-sponsored quality summit in March 2013, supported by 33 organizational leaders in kidney care.
The document identifies four key patient-centric goals:
- Improved patient survival;
- Reduced hospitalizations;
- Improved health-related quality of life; and,
- Improved patient experience with care.
The Quality Blueprint also recommends focusing on 32 "strategic opportunities" to achieve these goals.
"Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD or kidney failure) have reached epidemic levels due to the rising incidence of diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity," said Dr. Edward Jones, Chairman of KCP and a practicing nephrologist. "As the incidence of these conditions increases, so too does the incidence of kidney failure. The Blueprint becomes very important as we prepare to care for a larger patient population, one that is more complex than ever before."
Gail S. Wick, Chair-Elect of the American Kidney Fund, Dr. Allen Nissenson, KCP Blueprint Steering Committee member and Chief Medical Officer at DaVita, and Dr. Jones will describe the strategic blueprint and the impact it could have on improving kidney care in America.
