March 16 – 18 activities fuel small business growth including U.S. Army and U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services spotlights and Industry Day one-on-one sessions
WASHINGTON, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor the growth and achievements of women-owned contractors and lay the foundation for opportunity and job creation for the future through National Women Contractors' Week and Awards ( http://www.uswcc.org/nwcw/ ) in Washington, DC, March 16-18, 2010. The emphasis during the week will be access to opportunities including detailed spotlights on U.S. Army and U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services contracting opportunities and the much requested "Industry Day" featuring one-on-one meetings between businesses, federal agencies and prime contractors.
"Over the last decade, women-owned firms have fought hard to gain significant advances as suppliers to the federal marketplace," said Margot Dorfman, CEO of the U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce. "As women's businesses have grown, we have pushed the envelope seeking bigger and bigger market opportunities – including state and federal contracting. In FY2008, the federal government spent over $9B with women-owned small businesses – the largest single market opportunity for women-owned firms in the world."
"Through the annual 'National Women Contractors' Week' we bring increased access to opportunities for women-owned firms, fuel job creation, provide awards and recognition, and spotlight the great achievements of women business owners all across the United States," adds Dorfman.
