National Teacher of the Year Inspires Local Students Sunday September 12 at Tufts University

WHAT:

2010 National Teacher of the Year, Sarah Brown Wessling, a high school English teacher from Johnston, Iowa will be speaking to local elementary, junior high and high school students at People to People Ambassador Programs informational meetings on the campus of Tufts University.  

Sarah Brown Wessling will encourage all students attending the informational meetings to experience international travel and different cultures, and how this prepares students for success in the global workplace.

Brown Wessling was presented the prestigious National Teacher of the Year award by President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony in April. She is also the mother of three children.  

WHEN:

Join Sarah Brown Wessling SUNDAY, September 12 at Cohen Auditorium on the Medford campus of Tufts University. Cohen Auditorium is inside Aidekman Arts Center on Talbot Avenue. Parking is available on the street in front of the Auditorium and in the lot at the end of the block.

Sarah Brown Wessling will be speaking to local students at:

• 1 p.m.         high school students

• 3 p.m.         junior high and high school students

• 4:30 p.m.   elementary school students

WHY:

• People to People Ambassador Programs travel to more than 49 countries on all seven continents and program participants come from over 100 nations.

• The organization trains more than 5,000 teachers each year who lead students on educational travel experiences,

• 84 percent of students who have traveled on a People to People program report being accepted into their college of choice.
