National Student Day, Oct. 4, 2012, sponsored by the National Association of College Stores (NACS), is a day when more than 1,500 college campuses will be celebrating and promoting social responsibility and volunteerism by college students.
To enter, students can submit a story with an optional photo or video about how they give back at http://www.nationalstudentday.com/stories.aspx.
The three most popular stories will win either a scholarship of $3,000, $2,000, or $1,000. Another seven randomly selected entries will win an iPad. The deadline to enter the contest is Oct. 4. Voting then opens Oct. 4 and closes Oct. 17.
"For years, college students have been volunteering across their campus community and beyond," said NACS Director of Public Relations, Charles Schmidt. "From cleaning up a local park to serving as a Big Brother or Big Sister, they have taken time out of their hectic schedules to perform selfless acts without seeking recognition. The contest not only rewards students for their work, but more importantly, allows them to showcase their work on a national level."
