National Stroke Association Letter to Congress on Health Care Reform
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Jan. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Stroke Association, www.stroke.org—the nation's only nonprofit devoted entirely to stroke—is releasing the letter CEO Robyn Moore sent to Congressional leadership and the incoming Trump administration regarding ongoing healthcare reform efforts. The National Stroke Association feels compelled to highlight that affordable and robust health insurance coverage options are a critical element in stroke prevention and recovery.
"While we're always willing to support reform that improves the quality of care while reducing the financial burdens on patients, the National Stroke Association believes that repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without a fully-developed replacement plan is not responsible policy or governance," said Moore. "It's worth remembering that despite the ACA's flaws, 20 million more Americans now have health insurance; health care spending is slowing; and patients now have more financial and consumer protections. We call on Congress to present a reasonably detailed replacement plan that can be evaluated by the American people before any efforts to repeal the ACA move forward."
