National Specialty Alloys Selects Infinio For VDI Performance

Premium alloy supplier speeds up virtual desktops with no disruption

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Infinio, innovative provider of downloadable storage performance, is pleased to announce that National Specialty Alloys (NSA), a supplier of premium stainless steel, nickel, high temperature and specialty alloy products, has chosen Infinio Accelerator to provide the storage performance its VDI deployment needs, with no new hardware.

Nigel Hickey, Infrastructure Administrator at NSA, is seeing sustained storage offload rates of 61%, with peaks from 70-80%. Unlike competing solutions, Infinio is 100% software only, and does not affect native storage capabilities such as snapshotting, cloning, VMware updates, and so on.

NSA is currently running 60 desktops on VMware View, with plans to grow to 90 or more by year end. While their current NFS storage system has plenty of capacity, Hickey and his colleagues wanted to ensure adequate IOPS and smooth performance to support future growth.
