WASHINGTON, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dallas/Fort Worth-area entrepreneurs will hear valuable and practical advice from successful local and national business leaders and officials on how to start and grow small businesses on June 18 at the U.S. Small Business Administration's National Small Business Week event.

The informational sessions and workshops will be held at the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, Texas and kick off with introductions by Honorable Robert Cluck, M.D., Mayor of Arlington and Wes Jurey, President & CEO of Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
That morning, SBA Administrator Karen Mills, AARP President Robert Romasco, and small business owner Mike Minton, the 2012 Texas state small business winner, will share the tips, advice and resources available to those over age 50 who want to start or grow a small business.
During the day, additional sessions will include a panel of international trade experts on how to take a small business global through exporting, and utilizing supply chain opportunities to grow; a discussion on the "Dallas/Fort Worth Entrepreneurial Ecosystem" will be led by local business leaders and moderated by a representative from the local SCORE chapter, that is aimed at examining and tapping existing resources.
In addition, there is a speed mentoring session designed to partner entrepreneurs with an experienced mentor from SBA's resource partner network including Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), SCORE and Women's Business Centers (WBCs), and a matchmaking event to discuss procurement opportunities with major corporations and federal agencies.
In-depth sessions with government officials and procurement experts are also scheduled on government contracting, as well as lenders and venture capital pros looking at all aspects of how to access needed capital at all stages of a business. In addition, practical sessions include understanding the Affordable Care Act and a detailed session on expanding markets entitled Exporting 101, and an online session that teaches small businesses how to manage their online reputation.
More than 1,000 people have registered to attend the June 18th Dallas/Fort Worth-area National Small Business Week event which will also be live-streamed at www.sba.gov/smallbusinessweek. The live-streaming of all National Small Business Week events is provided by Microsoft.
Every year since 1963, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight through National Small Business Week the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. This year's event will be held June 17-21, in Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. offering tips, tools and training for small businesses to start, succeed and grow.
