ARLINGTON, Va., July 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) today announced the launch of its new Sleep Technology Council, a group whose mission will be to support and enable innovations in consumer sleep technology. The council will include participants from Beddit, Emfit, Jawbone, MetroNaps, MisFit Wearables, Responsive Surface Technology (ReST) and Valencell, among others.
"The recent explosion in wearable technology and smart sensors for the home is changing the game for sleep," said David Cloud, CEO of the National Sleep Foundation. "The newest technologies promise not only to help consumers better understand their own sleep and how it impacts their health, but to actually provide insights that further our understanding of sleep health and pave the way for new digital health solutions for consumers. The National Sleep Foundation is eager to support and engage technology innovators who are pushing sleep technology forward."
In its first year, the Sleep Technology Council will focus on enabling growth for this emerging sector of digital health through its inaugural event, the Sleep Technology Summit & Expo, set to be held October 6-7 in Santa Clara, CA, co-located with the 9th Annual Health 2.0 Conference. The event will bring together technology innovators, sleep experts, industry analysts, the venture capital community and media to discover and share technologies that are breaking new ground in sleep and explore the dynamic global investment landscape for this new technology segment.
The Sleep Technology Council will operate as an advisory council within the National Sleep Foundation.
