National Semiconductor Introduces Industry's First Online Analog Design Tool in Korean Language
WEBENCH Tools Make Power, Lighting and Sensing System Design Easy
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- National Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: NSM) today announced that its award-winning WEBENCH® Designer tools are now available in the Korean language. Worldwide expert and novice electronic engineers as well as mechanical engineers have used WEBENCH to create over 1.5 million analog designs cost-free and quickly since its introduction in 1999.
National's unique WEBENCH environment features WEBENCH Visualizer, the only tool to provide visual navigation of virtually unlimited power and lighting designs optimized to meet desired specifications in seconds, and WEBENCH Power Architect, which makes creation of highly optimized multiple load, multiple supply power regulation systems almost effortless.
National is the first to offer online power, lighting, and sensing application design tools in the Korean language. "The WEBENCH Designer tools offer instant access to the latest models, price, availability and system trade-offs," said Phil Gibson, vice president of Marketing and Web Operations at National Semiconductor. "A design engineer can simultaneously compare the performance of different implementations across vendors and devices and make value-based business decisions in one easy-to-use application."
The WEBENCH Designer component library includes more than 21,000 components from 110 manufacturers. Price and availability is updated hourly by National's distribution partners for accurate budgeting and production planning. The user can compare complete system designs and make supply chain decisions in minutes. Tools within the site include:
WEBENCH LED Designer and LED Architect – Designers can use WEBENCH LED Designer to configure a lighting system with up to 60 LEDs in serial or parallel strings. They can select from hundreds of high-brightness LEDs, match an LED with one of National's PowerWise® energy-efficient LED drivers and create an optimized constant current source power supply circuit in minutes and then use WEBENCH LED Architect as a quick visual tool for complete lighting system design up to 100,000 lumens in output. LED performance, electronic drive current and heat compensation are balanced in seconds. The tool analyzes 350 of the latest LEDs from 12 leading manufacturers, 30 heat sinks, 35 LED drivers, and a library of 21,000 electronic passive components. Users can focus on system level results and leave the burden of complex electrical and thermal mathematics to the tool. Electrical simulation is included as an option for additional testing, validation or component selection.
WEBENCH Power Designer and Power Architect – Designers can use WEBENCH Power Designer to create power supplies using DC-DC converters that meet their power design requirements. They simply find the best switching regulator or MOSFET controller for their application and solve switching power supply design problems before a prototype is built. They then use WEBENCH Power Architect to design power supplies for entire systems with multiple power loads and complex supply architectures and rapidly design and prototype complete power bus topologies. They can also compare the footprint, price or efficiency impacts of different intermediate supply topologies with ease and find the best system level power solution for their application in minutes.
WEBENCH FPGA Power Architect and Processor Power Architect – FPGAs and processors with ARM technology require multiple power supplies which are often time consuming to design. Designers use WEBENCH to select from a list of popular FPGAs and processors including requirements for noise, filtering and start-up. This saves weeks of design time and produces an entire power supply system optimized for small footprint, high efficiency and low cost in just a few minutes.
WEBENCH Sensor Designer – WEBENCH Sensor Designer can create complete circuit solutions from the sensor to serial data out for optical, pressure or temperature sensing applications. Designers can tune these solutions for the accuracy that their budget allows, based on real transducers from leading manufacturers.
