SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mischel Kwon, an IT executive with 35 years of experience in the private and public sectors, will be the featured speaker for WGU's Sage Talks lecture series on Wednesday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. MDT. The lecture will take place at The Leonardo, an interactive museum in the heart of Salt Lake City, and will be available to stream live online. Kwon is currently the President and CEO of MKACyber, a security consulting firm specializing in Technical Defensive Security, Security Operations, and Information Assurance. Her 35-year career has been an evolution of re-inventions that began with an unexpected discovery of a talent of mathematical and computer programming aptitude. During her address, she will share her unanticipated, yet highly decorated journey while also answering how this dynamic field is going to change over the next few years.
Throughout her career, Kwon has held senior roles in the U.S. Government, including Director of US-CERT, where she coordinated national incident response activities, and at the U.S. Department of Justice where she established and managed the Justice Security Operations Center (JSOC). Kwon holds an M.S. degree in computer science and a graduate certificate in Computer Security and Information Assurance.
Following the lecture, the public is invited to a reception hosted by the WGU College of Information Technology at The Leonardo. Attendees are encouraged to mingle, meet the speaker and WGU leaders. Museum admission is included with registration.
