ITASCA, Ill., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Safety Council is accepting nominations for four of its prestigious safety awards and designations: the Distinguished Service to Safety Award, the Marion Martin Award, the Community Advancement Award, and the Rising Stars of Safety Awards. Each winner will have advanced safety within their workplaces, in their communities, or on the road, and have demonstrated continuous improvement, the effectiveness of their actions and the impact it has had on others.
"Preventable deaths have reached an all-time high in the United States," said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. "We need dedication and innovation from individuals and organizations if we want to keep each other safe. The nominees for all four of these awards will have a proven success record and share our mission to eliminate preventable deaths in our lifetime."
Nomination criteria for each award is as follows:
- Distinguished Service to Safety - The highest honor bestowed on a safety professional by NSC, this award recognizes exemplary efforts and success in improving safety and health at work, on the road, and in the home and community.
- Marion Martin – Celebrates women who have achieved professional excellence on the international, national, regional or local level and have helped pave the way to success for other women in safety.
- Community Safety Advancement – Presented to an employer that provides exemplary off-the-job safety and health programs.
- Rising Stars of Safety – Showcases safety professionals younger than 40 with a track record of proven safety leadership.
