PORTLAND, Ore., March 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For 50 years, the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) has been serving people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis by driving efforts to cure the disease and dramatically improve the lives of those affected. In that spirit, NPF will host its biennial National Volunteer Conference (NVC) on August 4-5, 2017.
The purpose of the conference is to bring together volunteers, their families, health care providers and caregivers to share experiences and create enduring relationships that help people in managing their disease. The 2017 NVC will occur in conjunction with the NPF Research Symposium, which brings psoriatic disease researchers together to share discoveries, on August 3-5, 2017. Both events will be held at the Swissôtel in Chicago, Illinois.
Throughout the event, attendees will learn about NPF programs and services, and connect with others in the psoriatic disease community. Attendees will participate in several workshops that will cover topics such as:
- How to get more involved in your community to find a cure
- Advice on parenting a child with psoriatic disease
- The opportunity to be part of major NPF initiatives
- How to help NPF drive efforts to cure psoriatic diseases and improve the lives of all affected
Registration is now open, and attendees will receive a 20 percent discount if registered by April 1, 2017. Registration includes an invitation to the kick-off reception with prominent researchers and scientists on August 5, a customized event tote bag and T-shirt, all group meals, a discounted hotel room rate and access to the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration Dinner also happening on Aug. 5. This year, NPF is celebrating 50 years of driving efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected. Many events and celebrations are planned throughout the year, and the NVC is one of many designed to celebrate the people, work and successes NPF and its many volunteers have achieved over the past 50 years. Over the last 50 years, the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) has become the world's leading nonprofit patient advocacy organization fighting for individuals with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. NPF leads this fight by driving efforts for a cure and improving the lives of the more than 8 million Americans affected by this chronic disease. To date, NPF has funded more than $15 million in research grants and fellowships, and to commemorate 50 years, NPF plans to raise an additional $2 million for early scientific career research programs in 2017 alone. Each year, NPF strives to support, educate and advocate on behalf of more individuals living with or caring for someone with the disease than ever before. As part of that effort, NPF established the Patient Navigation Center to offer personalized assistance to everyone with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. Join our community today and help drive discovery and create community for all living with psoriatic disease.
