PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Psoriasis Foundation, NPF, announces that Procter & Gamble products Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Laundry Detergent, and Tide PODS® Free & Gentle Laundry Detergent are the first products to receive the NPF Seal of Recognition in the household product category.
Highlighting over-the-counter products, the NPF Seal of Recognition recognizes products that have been created or are intended to be non-irritating and safe for people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, or individuals living with severe sensitive skin or joint mobility limitations.
"We created the household product category of our Seal of Recognition program because people living with psoriatic disease and sensitive skin deserve to know if products could potentially irritate their skin or trigger a flare," said Randy Beranek, president and CEO, NPF. "The NPF Seal of Recognition identifies products proven to be safe and effective for sensitive skin, which is helpful for the millions of people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis."
The Seal of Recognition program offers five categories, including personal care products, household products, fabrics, mobility products and supplements. Tide is the first product to be recognized in the household products category.
"We are honored to be the first detergent awarded the NPF Seal of Recognition in the household product category," said Amy Krehbiel, associate director of P&G Fabric Care. "The seal reassures our customers that they can trust our products to keep their clothes brilliantly clean, while being gentle on sensitive skin."
Manufacturers interested in submitting their products for the NPF Seal of Recognition must go through an application, evaluation and approval process, which includes submitting independently tested scientific data demonstrating the product does not irritate skin burdened with psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, severe sensitive skin or joint mobility limitations. The product is then independently reviewed by a panel of dermatology and rheumatology experts and people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Products that pass this review receive the Seal of Recognition. To learn more about the submission process, visit https://www.psoriasis.org/seal/review-process.
