Dr. Philip Y.M. Yang will discuss the role of Taiwan as Asia-Pacific peacemaker. Yang, who became minister of the Taiwan Government Information Office this year, serves as spokesman for Taiwan overseas and for the cabinet domestically.
Yang will discuss Taiwan's engagement with mainland China and its approach to international participation, as well as the achievements of Taipei's policy of "flexible diplomacy," which does not affect the nation's determination to maintain sovereignty. While strengthening its self-defense capabilities and the U.S.-Taiwan relationship, Taiwan views regional security and stability as a cooperative endeavor.
