WASHINGTON, Oct. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Press Club Newsmaker will provide a congressional campaign update one week before the election, with Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) and House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Rep. Tom Price (R-GA). Price and Israel will each give an opening presentation on the status and issues in the race, where all 435 members of the House of Representatives are up for election or re-election. They will discuss the chances of a change in control of the House or in the current ratio (240 Republicans, 190 Democrats, five vacancies) and the strategies and issues in play. Media is invited, and following the opening presentations may ask questions. The event will be at the National Press Club, 14th and F streets NW, 13th floor.

Israel represents New York's 2nd Congressional District, including the Long Island communities of Huntington, Babylon, Islip, Smithtown and Oyster Bay. Now in his fifth term, he was first elected to Congress in 2000. Israel is a member of the House leadership and, in addition to his Democratic Congressional Campaign chairmanship, serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
Price, also a member of his party's leadership as chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, was first elected to represent Georgia's 6th District in 2004. His district consists of suburbs of Atlanta including Roswell, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Tucker and Dunwoody. He is a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Budget Committee. Price is an orthopedic surgeon with 20 years of practice.
