WASHINGTON, May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Press Club would like to clarify news reports from last night that quoted a DC Fire spokesman as suggesting construction workers became sick and were taken to the hospital while working at the National Press Club. These gentlemen were working in the basement of the National Press Building, some 14 stories below the National Press Club. They were remodeling a space formerly occupied by Filene's. There is currently no construction going on at the National Press Club and there was no construction accident at the National Press Club.

While we wish the construction workers a speedy recovery, this incident did not affect the operations, guests, staff or events at the National Press Club.
