National Pork Board Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Launch Of Facebook Page In Spanish, Social Media Promotion And Website Revamp
Partnership with Chef Gilberto Cetina highlights his pork recipes and cookbook
DES MOINES, Iowa, Sept. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the National Pork Board has launched a Facebook page in Spanish and a month-long social media promotion with daily and weekly prizes. Additionally, the National Pork Board has revamped its Spanish-language website.
"We are very excited about providing greater resources for our Spanish-speaking consumers," said Traci Rodemeyer, Director of Pork Information for the National Pork Board. "Pork is a staple in many traditional Latino dishes and a family meal favorite. We hope that our recipes and tips will inspire more creative cooking, and we encourage our Facebook fans to enjoy their online community and to enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win some fun prizes."
As part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, the National Pork Board has partnered with Los Angeles-based Chef Gilberto Cetina, a Mexican-born restaurant owner and cookbook author. "I am honored to join the National Pork Board in celebrating our Latino community in the U.S.," said Cetina. "I will be sharing some of my favorite recipes weekly, and I look forward to seeing what other dishes pork fans enjoy cooking."
The National Pork Board Sweepstakes will be held from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and will be hosted on Facebook. It will feature daily prize packs, which include an apron and meat thermometer with "El sabor de mil platillos" (The Taste of a Thousand Dishes) logo. The weekly prize will be a "Sabores Yucatecos a Culinary Tour of the Yucatan" cookbook autographed by Chef Gilberto. One grand prize winner will receive a 17-piece cookware set. National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1968.
