National Philanthropic Trust Expands With New Affiliate: NPT CAT
TRUST TO CONVERT ILLIQUID & OTHER ASSETS INTO CHARITABLE DONATIONS
JENKINTOWN, Pa., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) announced today the launch of a new affiliate, NPT Charitable Asset Trust (NPT CAT), which shares NPT's mission to increase philanthropy in society. NPT CAT, a public charity in the trust form, accepts personal assets as charitable donations.
NPT's 2011 DAF Report, identified a significant increase in the number of complex gifts to charities in 2010 and expects that this trend will continue. NPT CAT specializes in converting illiquid and unique assets while accepting a wide range of other contributions.
"For many, illiquid assets comprise a large share of their wealth," said Eileen Heisman, CEO of National Philanthropic Trust. "Most charities don't have the expertise or ability to accept highly unusual or complex assets. NPT CAT will enable families, corporations and other nonprofits to more efficiently turn assets - including stock, real estate or art - into mission-critical financial support for charities in the US and around the world."
Bryan Clontz will serve as NPT CAT's Senior Gift Planning Consultant. Bryan has extensive experience evaluating and liquidating unusual assets. Heisman said, "Bryan has a long history of working with the most complex gifts and maximizing their value as charitable donations. He has turned a seat on the stock exchange and bushels of soybeans into philanthropic gifts. We are grateful to have him as part of our team."
"The launch of NPT CAT helps clients better meet their financial and estate planning goals and puts a variety of assets – from real estate to cash - toward charitable purposes," said Heisman.
