National Parkinson Foundation Ohio Chapter Now Serves Entire State

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) Central & Southeast Ohio Chapter has officially changed its name to National Parkinson Foundation Ohio. The name change signifies the expansion of service statewide to the approximately 30-50,000 Ohioans with Parkinson's disease (PD). 

"We are thrilled to advance our mission to make life better for people living with Parkinson's in the state of Ohio," said Paul Blom, NPF's Interim President and CEO. "NPF Ohio is filling a vital need for local services and expanding successful programs into a new geography."

NPF Ohio is dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by Parkinson's disease through support groups, education, awareness, and the support of research. Since 1981, NPF Ohio has been serving individuals and families throughout Central & Southeast Ohio.  With the strength and support of a national organization, NPF Ohio continues to have a national reach with a local touch.

Each year, NPF Ohio hosts Moving Day® Columbus, A Walk for Parkinson's, at the Columbus Crew Stadium with a fundraising goal of $175,000 this year (www.movingdaycolumbus.org). On June 18, 2016, NPF Ohio will be adding a second walk location with Moving Day® Cleveland with a fundraising goal of $100,000 for its first year (www.movingdaycleveland.org).

In addition to NPF's national Helpline, NPF Ohio has implemented a PD Care Line to assist both those with PD and their care partners. NPF Ohio offers support groups, exercise classes and free educational resources to the local Parkinson's community. They will be hosting their annual fall symposium on November 14, 2015.
