National Parking Association Raises $93,000 for Disaster Relief

WASHINGTON, Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the NPA Annual Convention & Expo, members of the National Parking Association (NPA) recently raised $93,000 to assist fellow parking professionals and their families recover from damage resulting from hurricanes Harvey in Texas and Irma in Florida.  Charitable grants will be awarded through NPA's foundation the Parking Industry Institute (PII).

NPA Board Chair Alan Lazowski, the CEO and Founder of LAZ Parking, led the fundraising effort. "All of us in the parking industry want to help peers throughout the industry affected by flooding in Texas and hurricane Irma in Florida. The recovery may take months and up to a year for some; NPA and its members want to help parking industry employees and their families with charitable grants to aid in storm recovery," said Lazowski.  He added, "Through NPA's foundation, the Parking Industry Institute, the parking industry is stepping forward to help our parking community bridge storm recovery by supporting the local families in affected areas in Houston and Florida."

About the Grants
The charitable fund will award grants through an application process. The charitable fund will award three grants for catastrophic loss, with the remaining grant funds awarded for loss and damage ranging from $500-10,000 for each remaining grantee. Parking industry employees in the public or private sector, their spouse and dependent children living at home, whose head of household is an employee of an NPA member organization are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted online until December 14, 2017. Members can visit WeAreParking.org to apply.
