National Parking Association Appoints Certified Parking Professional Credentialing Advisory Board Members
Kathy Phillips, CIC, CPP Appointed to Chair Prestigious Group
WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Parking Association (NPA) today announced that it has appointed new members to its Certification Advisory Board which is responsible for managing NPA's Certified Parking Professional (CPP) Program, the oldest and most prestigious certification program in the parking industry.
NPA Chairman of the Board Jed Hatfield, CPP appointed Kathy Phillips, CIC, CPP of Alliant Insurance to chair NPA's National Certification Advisory Board (CAB). Phillips a long-time member and advocate for professionalism and certification leads the team. She succeeds immediate past CAB chair John Udelson, CPP, founder of Curbside Hospitality. The chair role was held earlier by Laura Longworth, CPP, Vice President of Parking Operations at Brookfield Properties.
Newly appointed CAB members include: Andy Barlow, CPP, Central Parking; Leonard Carder, Ampco System Parking; Cathy Carney, LAZ Parking; Chris Hankins, CPP, Colonial DE; Mark Martin, CPP, Green Garage Associates; Charlie Munn, CPP, Scotchtown Associates; Phil Murphy, GNU Group; Colleen Niese, CPP, Impark; Craig Owens, Minute Manparking.com; Sammy Parry, New Haven Parking Authority; Vicki Pero, Impark; and Jeremy T. Tolley, SHPR, Towne Park.

Established in 1993, More than 500 parking professionals worldwide have earned their CPP designation. NPA's certification program enhances professionalism in the industry, raises the awareness of the impact and importance of the parking industry, and sets a standard for excellence. Eligible parking professionals participate in a comprehensive exam covering 13 key aspects of parking operations, from safety and security to customer service operations to disaster planning, to finance and valet parking operations. CPP certification is earned through a formal testing system administered by an independent credentialing organization on NPA's behalf, and is maintained through continuing education and a periodic recertification process.
