WASHINGTON, Aug. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Parking AssociationTM (NPA) and the Parking Industry InstituteTM (PII) are proud to announce a partnership with Wounded Warrior ProjectTM (WWP). This year's Helen & Jerry Stocks Memorial Golf Outing, held on Monday, October 20 at the Desert Pines Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. will serve as the inaugural event kick-starting this new relationship.
The annual golf tournament, held during the NPA Convention and Expo, was established to raise money for the PII Scholarship Fund. This year, in addition, PII has pledged to create a new and separate scholarship to be awarded annually to a Wounded Warrior. Funds have already started pouring in, and PII is well on its way to exceeding its goal of $10,000.
"The Parking Industry InstituteTM was founded on the principles of education, empowerment and employment. This collaboration with Wounded Warrior ProjectTM is a natural extension of those core values," said NPA President Christine Banning, MA, CAE.
In addition to establishing the aforementioned scholarship, the partnership endeavors to assist Wounded Warriors find employment in the parking industry.
"There are needs for programmers, service technicians, sales, etc…" explains NPA & PII Board Member Tom Carter, President, Toledo Ticket Company. "All of these types of positions and many more could be filled with a soldier returning to us from defending our rights and freedoms," he continued.
Join us in thanking those responsible for our freedoms and help to make someone's dreams of an education and/or job opportunity come true. To register for this year's Helen and Jerry Stocks Memorial Golf Outing, visit www.npaconvention.org/2014/golf.cfm.
