Tonight is the "29th Annual National Night Out" which will involve over 15,000 communities across the country from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
National Night Out is the brainchild of Matt Peskin of Wynnewood who created the event for the NATW back in 1984. The event is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and; (4) Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
"Tonight is about the good people across our area who work hard throughout the year to make our neighborhoods safer places," Peskin said. "Too often we hear about the bad things. Tonight it's about good programs and good people."
Parking will be available throughout the Suburban Square area. Learn more about National Night Out at www.nationalnightout.org.
