WYNNEWOOD, Pa., Aug, 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of Town Watch (NATW), in partnership with Lower Merion Community Watch, will host the annual "National Night Out" (NNO) Festival in the Ruby's lot in Suburban Square in Ardmore tonight from 6 to 9 p.m.
Thousands of guests will enjoy live music, food, rides, carnival games, LM Police, Fire and EMS exhibits, funnel cakes, roving entertainment, photo booths, child fingerprinting/video, Kwikset's NASCAR display car and various home safety information.
All those attending are asked to bring non-perishable goods to benefit Eldernet's Food Pantry. Those who bring food will receive a raffle ticket making them eligible for some great prizes from Ardmore Toyota, 43 Cricket, Republic Bank, Jack McShea's, Jeannie' Deli, Suburban Square and Macy's.
This is the "31st Annual National Night Out" which will involve over 37 million people from 16,000 communities across the country from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
National Night Out is the brainchild of Matt Peskin of Wynnewood who created the event for NATW back in 1984. The event is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and; (4) Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
"NNO is about the good people across our area who work hard throughout the year to make our neighborhoods safer places," Peskin said. "Too often we hear about only the bad things. Tonight's about good programs and good people."
Parking will be available throughout the Suburban Square area. Learn more about National Night Out at www.nationalnightout.org. For information on Lower Merion Community Watch visit LMCommunityWatch.org.
