National Night Out 2010 will feature live music, food, rides, local and state officials, carnival games, police, fire and EMS exhibits, Phillie Phanatic, funnel cakes and roving entertainment.
The event is in conjunction with tonight's "27th Annual National Night Out" which will involve over 15,000 communities across the country from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. Nationally, over 36 million people are expected to participate.
National Night Out is the brainchild of Matt Peskin of Wynnewood who created the event for the NATW back in 1984. "Crime is up in many communities so NNO comes at an important time," Peskin said. "We hope that citizens will enjoy Night Out - and also get involved in local town watch programs."
Admission is free. The cost of a food ticket is $4.00 per person. Parking will be available throughout the Suburban Square area. The National Night Out website is www.nationalnightout.org. You can also follow National Night Out on Facebook at facebook.com/nationalnightout.
