National Medical Billing Services' Angela Talton Appointed MoHIMA ICD-10 Expert
Talton's Expertise Will Help Guide Healthcare Organizations Through the ICD-10 Transition
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- National Medical Billing Services, a national healthcare revenue cycle management company that specializes in servicing ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and their affiliated surgeons, announced today the company's Senior Vice President of Coding, Angela Talton, was appointed by the Missouri Health Information Management Association (MoHIMA) as its sole expert resource for inquiries submitted through the association's new ICD-10 information platform.
This internet-based service allows healthcare organizations to submit questions about ICD-10 issues such as preparation, implementation and staff training. As a partnership between the four MoHIMA Regional Divisions, all inquiries will be routed to one centralized hub where Talton will review, research and answer each submission. The platform also utilizes a chat feature to allow participants to share information and network with their peers.
"There won't be any more delays. The ICD-10 conversion will take place in October, 2014," says Talton. "Service providers who aren't well-prepared will struggle. The goal of this program is to help coders get on the right track so they can make the transition smoothly."
MoHIMA is the state of Missouri's affiliate of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). These organizations are recognized as leading authorities on health information management and work on regional, state and national levels to educate, promote, and advocate for the industry. Nationwide, AHIMA serves more than 67,000 members.
"Our Eastern region piloted this program as a LinkedIn page after receiving numerous ICD-10 inquiries," says Talton. "We decided to roll it out on a larger scale to align efficiencies in the industry to ensure everyone is well prepared for the transition."
Talton, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Administration and an MBA, has also earned many professional certifications, including RHIA, CCS, CPC and CPC-H. She also serves as President of the Eastern Missouri Health Information Management Association. During her tenure, this chapter was recognized by MoHIMA as the "model association to seek for innovation in providing coding education to members." In addition, Talton is President-Elect of MoHIMA and an AHIMA approved ICD-10 certified trainer.
"On behalf of the Missouri Health Information Management Association's ICD-10 Task Force, we want to thank Angela Talton for volunteering to lead our effort to create an electronic forum for our members to become proficient in ICD-10 coding," says Maggie Gambill RHIA CCS-P, ICD-10 Project Lead for MoHIMA. "Angela continues to demonstrate her commitment to her profession and her professional organization. She is a valuable resource in our effort to provide education to our membership so they are prepared for ICD-10 implementation on October 1, 2014."
The MoHIMA ICD-10 information platform is open to all healthcare organizations. Inquiries may be submitted to [email protected].
