CHICAGO, March 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- During the entire month of March the American Ladder Institute (ALI) will be focused on bringing heightened awareness about the importance of ladder safety during the first-ever National Ladder Safety Month. As the only awareness month dedicated to ladder safety, National Ladder Safety month will be a one-stop shop for safe ladder use for homeowners and working professionals.
ALI is encouraging individuals, companies and government organizations to share how they are celebrating National Ladder Safety Month by taking photos and sharing them on social media using #LadderSafetyMonth.
"Increased awareness about the importance of safe ladder use through resources and proper training is vital to decreasing the thousands of injuries and hundreds of fatalities that happen every year in ladder-related accidents," said Dave Plotner, ALI board member, ANSI A14 Chairman and Vice President of Engineering at Werner Co. "Social media is the perfect way to get the word out to the everyday consumer who may not realize that they are using ladders in an unsafe manner at home, such as overreaching on their step stool."
To encourage individuals to share their ladder safety stories and photos showing how they're participating in the awareness month, ALI is hosting a photo contest. Individuals can participate in the contest by simply sharing their National Ladder Safety Month photos on social media using #LadderSafetyMonth. One winner will be chosen for each of the four themes of the month. The prizes will be provided by the sponsoring company of that theme.
During March, the focus of the ladder safety conversation will be divided in to four areas:
- March 1 – 11: Ladder Safety and How It Affects Everyone (contest sponsored by Little Giant Ladder Systems)
- March 12 – 18: Ladder Safety at Work (contest sponsored by Louisville Ladders)
- March 19 – 25: Ladder Safety at Home (contest sponsored by Werner Co.)
- March 26 – April 1: Ladder Inspection and Disposal (contest sponsored by mySafetyProfiler)
