WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Kidney Foundation (NKF), the nation's leading organization in the fight against kidney disease, announced today that it expects to raise more than $600,000 at this year's Masquerade Kidney Ball on November 19th. Recognized as the nation's largest black tie fundraiser for chronic kidney disease (CKD), the Masquerade Kidney Ball will thank and celebrate the community for its generous support and put the spotlight on this national health crisis which impacts 73 million Americans and costs $87 billion in government health care spending.
The evening will raise much needed funds for research, education, testing, patient services and organ donation. "In the Washington area alone, a half million people are suffering from kidney disease, 7,000 are on dialysis and more than 1,800 need a transplant," said Mark Testoni, President and Chief Executive, SAP NS2 and Kidney Ball Chair. "We are excited to be joined by so many top business and community leaders, medical professionals and patient families who are helping fight kidney disease."
Called the silent killer, chronic kidney disease has no recognizable symptoms and is often misdiagnosed. In fact, one in nine American adults (26 million people) have chronic kidney disease and 90% of them do not know they have it. Especially hard hit are minorities, with African Americans being three times more likely to develop kidney failure and Hispanics one-and-a-half times more likely. Kidney disease kills 90,000 people per year and is the ninth leading cause of death in America.
Purchase Your Tickets Online – For the first time, tickets to the Masquerade Kidney Ball can be purchased online for $500 per person, $850 per couple and $2,500 for six people. Sponsor tables can also be purchased and range from $5,000 to $50,000.
Live entertainment will be provided by 70s rock sensation Three Dog Night. Live and silent auctions will be held featuring over 150 packages, including exotic travel, local attractions, sporting events and gourmet dining experiences. An inspiring mission appeal will enable attendees to make real-time donations from the event.
