National Industries for the Blind Named One of 2012 Best Places to Work by Virginia Business
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National Industries for the Blind (NIB), the nation's leading employment resource for people who are blind, was named one of the 2012 Best Places to Work in Virginia for mid-sized employers. The annual list of "Best Places to Work" was created by Virginia Business magazine and Best Companies Group and is a comprehensive assessment of how employees perceive their jobs, providing insights into issues ranging from leadership and compensation, to teamwork and work-life balance.
"We are greatly honored to be recognized as one of the best places to work in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This designation is a testament to everyone on the NIB team," said NIB President and CEO Kevin A. Lynch. "Everything we do at NIB is motivated by the desire to make a difference in the lives of people who are blind. This acknowledgment symbolizes the culture of NIB and the commitment of the NIB staff to our mission."
The survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state's economy, its work force and businesses. The Best Places to Work in Virginia list comprises 70 companies, split into three groups: small employers (fewer than 100 employees), mid-sized employers (100-250 employees), and large-sized employers (more than 250 employees).
Organizations from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings.
NIB will be among all Best Places to Work in Virginia rankings when they are published in the February 2012 issue of Virginia Business.
