National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Focus on the Family Join Forces to Help US Hispanics
NHCLC will distribute Focus marriage and worldview resources to the 16 million Hispanic born-again Christians it serves
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Focus on the Family and the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) are working together to reach US Hispanics, the nation's largest and fastest growing demographic, with faith and family help resources tailored specifically for this audience.
The alliance is launching with two high-profile areas of cooperation: Focus' Date Night Challenge, an event hosted by Focus and sponsored by churches across the nation to strengthen marriages, and the Spanish-language version of The Truth Project, Proyecto La Verdad.
"Focus exists to share the Gospel and help families thrive, something we do through our resources, like The Truth Project. What we didn't have was an established inroad with the Hispanic community," said Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family. "Combining efforts with the NHCLC gives us a way to reach the unique and growing population of US Hispanics. We are prayerfully hopeful for great fruits resulting from this collaborative effort."
The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, also known as the Hispanic Evangelical Association, the nation's largest Christian Hispanic organization, supports more than 34,000 churches in America, millions of Hispanic Evangelicals, and is committed, as stated in its Family Directive, to strengthening families, protecting marriage, and rebuilding the marriage culture.
"God's truth transcends culture, language and nationality," said NHCLC President Samuel Rodriguez. "Focus' proven resources will help us go a long way in helping make God's plan for life and family known to the Hispanic community."
As part of their alliance, Rodriguez will be a featured speaker at the Date Night Challenge event. The NHCLC will actively promote the event to its network, helping Focus reach its goal of partnering with 500 church leaders and reaching 5,000,000 dates during the month of February. The group will also help deliver the ongoing monthly content available to churches during the year.
The second part of the initial collaboration includes the NHCLC's training of Proyecto La Verdad leaders and help in getting the program started in Hispanic churches. Focus will provide the content and provide initial leadership and teachers.
