National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) Names Representative Angel Cruz (PA) and Senator Floyd Esquibel (WY) Chair and Vice Chair of the Energy & Environment Task Force
WASHINGTON, April 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) appoints Representative Angel Cruz (PA) as Chair and proudly announces Senator Floyd Esquibel (WY) as Vice Chair of the Energy and Environment Task Force.
The formation of the Task Force derived from last year's NHCSL Summit on Clean and Renewable Energy, which began the discussion among Hispanic state legislators on how Latinos view on energy development and environmental stewardship.
"I am proud to serve in this role to ensure that we can advance the needs and views of our community," said Representative Angel Cruz (PA). "As Chair of the NHCSL Energy & Environment Taskforce, I will make sure that we seriously address the need to promote and develop all sources of energy, but with a strong moral conscience to ensure that we balance our economic needs with protecting the health of our community and preserving our environment for our children and generations to come."
"Joining the committees gave me an opportunity to learn and lead the topic of energy and environment since it is invaluable to the state of Wyoming and in other states we inhabit. Wyoming produces approximately 30% of the energy consumed in the United States," said Senator Esquibel (WY). "Energy development and maintaining the cultural quality of life are issues significant to our future and for the task force, particularly when developing policies that create a balancing act for the two."
The NHCSL is the premier national association of Hispanic state legislators working to design and implement policies and procedures that will improve the quality of life for Hispanics throughout the country. NHCSL was founded in 1989 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to be the most effective voice for the more than 340 Hispanic legislators.
