National Green Builds Business Program to Benefit Tri-Cities Area Business Owners in Washington
PASCO, Wash., Dec. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation will continue its national Green Builds Business Program in Pasco, Washington on December 9 & 10, 2011 at the Columbia Business Access Center for Columbia Basin College.
The Green Builds Business Program, a signature program of the USHCC Foundation underwritten by Walmart, is designed to educate Hispanic entrepreneurs about the concepts and best practices related to environmental sustainability in business.
The USHCC Foundation and its co-host, the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (TCHCC), will select 20 small businesses from the area to participate in the two-day training program. The selected business owners will be coached on best practices for lowering operating costs, increasing revenues and motivating workers by incorporating green sustainable efforts into their overall business plans.
"The USHCC is proud to bring Green Builds Business to entrepreneurs in the Tri-Cities, Washington area and to host the training programs at Columbia Basin College, which has worked vigorously in the community to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions," says USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "With the growth of Hispanic businesses outpacing the rest of the nation, we look forward to working together to reduce the carbon footprint of businesses in the Pacific Northwest and encouraging a culture of sustainability across the country."
At least one business will be selected to receive up to 24-hours of one-on-one green coaching to formulate a green business plan or implement a green project that holds the potential of creating jobs, growing profits and reducing emissions this year. Led by Bill Roth, Founder of Earth 2017 and the trainer for the program, Green Builds Business will tour a total of 11 cities in the United States by the end of this year.
"The Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is excited to provide our business owners with the valuable training provided by the Green Builds Business program. Over the course of two days, they will learn new ways to incorporate 'green' strategies that save their businesses money and open themselves to the many opportunities available to green certified companies," says TCHCC President Martin Valadez. "We look forward to our continued collaboration with the USHCC Foundation and would like to thank Walmart for providing the funds that make this training possible."
