National Gift Card Invests $2MM+ in Gift Card Fulfillment Advancement
Adds 40,000 Square Feet for More State of the Art Technology and Staff
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill., Oct. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- National Gift Card (NGC), North America's most automated gift card provider and fulfillment company serving the B2B loyalty, rewards, and incentive marketplace with more than 2,000 U.S., Canadian and European corporate clients, invested more than $2 million to expand its existing facility to 92,000 square feet and make room for the addition of three new state-of-the-art gift card fulfilment machines.
Now in production, the new machines were built in conjunction with Kern International Inc., the American subsidiary for the Swiss-based manufacturer of the fastest card affixing and mail insertion equipment in the world. The technology investment includes:
- A Kern K91 machine with multi-card affixing capability that increases capacity, speed and accuracy from traditional gift card fulfillment techniques. In addition, the existing K91s were upgraded by adding additional cameras to enhance quality and further reduce any potential errors.
- A Kern K90-HS that is the first of its kind in the world capable of processing single card orders at a rate of 12,000 per hour – perfect for NGC's industry expertise in supporting both retailer rebate programs as well as the wellness and healthcare markets for incentive programs rewarding consumers with gift cards for making healthy life decisions.
- A Sorter machine, also first of its kind in the world, that assures speed, quality and accuracy by stacking the correct gift card in the right order to ensure consumers redeeming points, miles, or cash-back for a gift card receive the correct cards in their order.
"This investment expands our commitment to continuous improvement, technology, and quality that gives us the speed and accuracy to maintain our mission of being the 'Best in Class' gift card provider in the industry," said NGC CEO Adam Van Witzenburg.
NGC already operates three Kern K-91 machines in-house, as well as an existing Sorter. Kern built the Sorter in collaboration with and specifically for NGC, integrating its engineering and design teams to develop the machine's process specifications to NGC's requirements.
This additional technology will increase NGC's capacity and scalability for physical gift card fulfillment to the highest level in the gift card and payment distribution market. It gives NGC the unprecedented ability to deliver customers' gift card campaigns with increased speed, security, accuracy and end-to-end validation – an industry mandate for clients in the financial, health care, insurance, and employee reward sectors. Customers will have increased confidence that the correct gift card is going to the right recipient in a secure and speedy manner.
"The combination of our new Kern machines, coupled with NGC's gift card API for digital gift card program applications, means NGC's gift card fulfillment platforms continue to set the gold standard for B2B gift card sourcing and fulfillment," says Eric Thiegs, President of National Gift Card. "While we continue to see advanced growth in our digital gift card API, physical gift cards aren't going anywhere for decades, and we'll continue to set the bar on rewards platform support as we deliver over 400 international merchant gift cards and prepaid open loop products to leading decision makers in the rewards, loyalty, and incentive markets."
