National Football League Players Association Former Players, Chicago Chapter Joins Forces with RETROFIT Data-Driven Weight Loss to Support Efforts to Get Fit
SKOKIE, Ill., May 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As news outlets report health issues surrounding NFL players, Chicago's Chapter of Former Players is making health and wellness a top priority for its members after they've left the playing field.
Local former players have joined forces with RETROFIT, (www.retrofitme.com) the Chicago-based company dedicated to data-driven weight loss, to offer members an expert-led wellness program, helping them get in top condition through a holistic diet and exercise approach.
The former players who join the unique RETROFIT program will also give back to the community through generous donations to the NFLPA Chicago Chapter Scholarship.
Chicago Bears All-Pro Kicker Robbie Gould is hosting the upcoming May 23, 2012 Chicago Chapter Meeting from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at JBar, 610 N. Rush St. Chicago, IL, where this extraordinary partnership will be announced to the press.
"Our number one goal is to make our guys aware of the health issues out there and get in front of any issues that we can. The best way to combat any problem is through education and hard work. At the end of this process, it is our hope that we are prepared and in better health," said Reggie Smith, President, NFLPA Former Players, Chicago Chapter.
"We are relentlessly pursuing the strongest results in the industry for our clients," said RETROFIT CEO Jeff Hyman. "Athletes understand that top performance often starts with a focused mind-set and willingness to commit to achieving their goals. This makes our partnership with The NFLPA, Chicago Chapter of Former Players the perfect fit.
"It is doubly nice to have a pay-off, not just for the former players, but in this case, for the worthy scholarship recipients as well."
Event speakers will include RETROFIT VP of Employee Wellness David Myatt and Daniel Casteel and Barbara Jackson of Gone Pro.
RETROFIT's team of experts will work with former players to implement behavioral and nutritional changes. The goal is for clients to lose a minimum of 10% of their body weight and maintain the loss for more than one year.
"This partnership is amazing for a lot of reasons," said Smith. "We now have an opportunity for our guys to look into their health with an amazing company with amazing people. If they've fallen off track, the program will give them the support they need. At the same time, we'll continue to give back to the community through our scholarships, which RETROFIT has so kindly sponsored."
NFLPA Chicago Chapter Scholarship provides $3,500 each per year to a local boy and girl for the four years they attend college. The scholarship recipients are nominated by local athletic directors. The Chicago Chapter of NFLPA Former Players receives nearly 200 nomination letters each year.
