NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 10th, 2019 the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) launches their "Fire Sprinklers Buy Time, Time Buys Life" campaign, which includes a new website www.firesprinklersbuylife.com and a national TV commercial, titled "What Used To Be."
"Our NFSA Board deserves the credit for authorizing and supporting this campaign," explains NFSA President Shane Ray. "Their leadership has made it possible for NFSA staff to implement this campaign, which is a great example of our mission in action."
"NFSA is an association that works hard daily for all of us in the fire sprinkler industry," added Kent Mezaros, NFSA Board Chair. "The creation of a professional television commercial was not an easy assignment, but I'm proud of the team who made it happen and look forward to seeing the results --- our goal is to increase awareness of fire sprinklers and their value from homes to high-rises."
The campaign spotlights the importance of fire sprinklers to protect our family, pets and most treasured memories. The commercial also underscores the reality of today's fire, the impact that modern furnishings have on the time to flashover, and the potential devastation that fire poses. The actual making of the commercial involved a real fire with modern materials where fire sprinklers were not present. The ending shows what life is like with fire sprinklers with the intent that water is good and protect what fire will destroy.
This national marketing campaign is kicking off prior to NFSA's Annual Seminar and North American Fire Sprinkler Expo in Nashville, Tennessee May 15-18, 2019. Record attendance is forecast at this annual four-day event that brings fire sprinkler contractors, suppliers and manufacturers together with other industry professionals, including local fire service authorities.
"We are especially excited about having Grand Ole Opry star Mike Snider with us to kick off our time in Nashville," added Ray. "Nashville is the perfect city for us to gather and celebrate a successful year, and also to launch our national media campaign."
There will be a live side-by-side burn demonstration on Wednesday, May 15th at 9:00 a.m. at Nashville Fire Department's Special Operations Center at 417 Fatherland Street. Local media will join NFSA and NFD officials to see first-hand how fast fire reaches flashover, and how quickly fire sprinklers operate.
Over 1,200 fire sprinkler industry leaders will be participating in general sessions, expo hall and workshops with both technical and business topics. The 2019 Awards Banquet will occur on Friday, May 17th at 6:00 p.m. at the Omni, which is serving as the host hotel.
The Golden Sprinkler Award is NFSA's highest honor, and is presented each year to an individual who has dedicated his or her career to advancing the fire sprinkler industry. This year's recipient is Buck Buchanan, of Globe Fire Sprinkler.
The Russell P. Fleming Technical Service Award is the highest technical award, and will be presented to Fred Benn.
The Leadership in Public Safety Award is the NFSA's highest award to a fire official or advocate and will be presented to Vina Drennan, an advocate with Common Voices.
