In the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS). Anorexia nervosa has the highest fatality rate of any mental illness. But there is hope and there is help!
The goal of this event is to raise $200,000 to help fund NEDA's many important programs as well as its national, toll-free helpline that is a lifeline to thousands of individuals and families across the country. For the third year, the walk will include crossing the nostalgic Brooklyn Bridge and will feature live music and a special performance by singer/songwriter Mallory Faye, games and prizes, NEDA merchandise, educational booths, pet treats, dog costume contest, refreshments and many more activities and surprises.
