ATLANTA, May 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- National DCP, (NDCP) the $2 billion supply chain management cooperative serving the franchisees of Dunkin' Donuts, has ranked #28 on this year's InformationWeek Elite 100 – a list of the top business technology innovators in the U.S. NDCP also took Finalist honors in the Collaboration and Innovation in Cloud Technology award categories.
National DCP was recognized for Project Freshstart, a comprehensive, digital transformation initiative that involved changing every system and process which supported its business in order to increase customer service, drive supply chain efficiencies, lower sustainable costs and enhance productivity with inventory management, order fulfillment and more. In an unprecedented 10 month time frame, NDCP went live in its first regional launch with an entirely new technology platform.
"It is rare to accomplish a comprehensive digital transformation at this pace without disrupting overall operations," said Darrell Riekena, Chief Information Officer/Chief Operating Officer at National DCP. "Our team's success reflects the commitment and innovative thinking of employees and strategic partners, along with the support of our CEO, Executive Team and Board of Directors."
The company made extensive use of cloud solutions for ERP, CRM, sourcing, mobile and portal enabling its business and growth objectives, leading to its Finalist designation in InformationWeek's Innovation in Cloud Technology and Collaboration award categories. Project Freshstart allows the seamless integration of operations to source product through the Ariba cloud solution for direct material, making it available for customers through an open-source portal platform that transacts orders, inventory and financials through SAP's ERP solution (which is managed on a private cloud utilizing SAP's HANA in-memory database). It also manages warehouse operations and transportation using solutions from Manhattan Associates and engages with customers using SAP's co-tenant cloud-for-customer call center solution. In addition, Deloitte's value-based technology implementation and support model played a key role in the success of this initiative.
"It is a thrilling experience to have our company recognized as one of the nation's most innovative users of information technology," noted Scott Carter, Chief Executive Officer of National DCP. "While much of our industry has traditionally made limited investments in technology, we chose a different approach that has yielded strong benefits such as unparalleled new efficiencies and cost savings for customers – and delivered it in record time."
