National Crime Prevention Council Takes Home Top Honor
Intellectual Property Theft Videos Win a Telly Award
WASHINGTON, April 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Crime Prevention Council's (NCPC) video series on Intellectual Property (IP) Theft is receiving a 2016 Telly Award. The video series won the top honor, the Silver Award, in the Information Video category. A highly respected national and international competition, this year the Telly Awards received over 13,000 submissions from the U.S. and foreign countries.
The "Roll Call" video series, produced by West Street Productions, targets law enforcement and explains intellectual property theft, its effect on the U.S. economy and how catching these criminals can benefit law enforcement and our communities. The videos are part of NCPC's Intellectual Property Theft campaign. NCPC launched the public education campaign to help people and law enforcement agencies understand the devastating effects of IP theft.
"Winning this award is a testament to the content provided by the National Crime Prevention Council and the creativity, skill, and quality of work produced by West Street Productions," said CEO Ann Harkins of NCPC. "We are grateful for the participation of partner organizations the Virginia State Police, National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, Chesterfield County Police Department, National Association of Attorneys General, Morgantown Police Department, Global Intellectual Property Center, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National White Collar Crime Center, and the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney."
The National Crime Prevention Council's public education campaign emphasizes that Intellectual Property Theft is not a victimless crime. The consequences of purchasing counterfeit goods are severe and potentially deadly. You can find more information about the IP campaign at www.ncpc.org/getreal.
For its 37th season, a respected panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals judged the competition. The panel evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor.
