National Council on Disability Statement on the Passing of Paul Steven Miller
WASHINGTON, Nov. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Yesterday, the life and spirit of Paul Steven Miller was celebrated in the city he loved and by those who will miss him dearly. The National Council on Disability (NCD) would like to extend sincere condolences to his family, and especially to his wife and two young daughters. Paul's time with his family was often shared with those of us in the disability community, and we thank his family for that sacrifice.
We are thankful also for the accomplishments of his life. Whether Paul was working to pass legislation to protect against discrimination, enforcing these same laws, searching for the next leaders of the disability community, or providing classroom leadership, he did it all with an open heart and a respect for each person he encountered. This legacy of his humanity is the one we celebrate. Many on the Council will miss Paul as a friend; all of us will miss him as a hero in the struggle against bias and as a model for leadership.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, November 14, in Los Angeles, California, at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, and on Sunday, November 21, in Washington, DC at Adas Israel Congregation.
