National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners Announces 2016 Educator of the Year
2016 Educator of the Year Announced
SPARTA, N.J., April 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Joshua Freitas of LCB Senior Living was awarded the 2016 Educator of the Year by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. The NCCDP honors educators for their achievement, hard work and recognition of those whose outstanding efforts have enabled trainers to meet the challenging standards for dementia education. NCCDP received several hundred nomination letters for educators from around the country working in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day care, hospitals, home care agencies, hospice agencies, government agencies, associations and learning institutions. Joshua was nominated by his peers who provided meritorious examples for motivating his staff through education, his passion for teaching and transcendent delivery of the live presentation of NCCDP Alzheimer's disease and Dementia Care Curriculum to health care professionals and front line staff. Unlike other awards programs, the CADDCT Educator of the Year Award recognizes the impact the CADDCT trainer has with the staff, because education motivates employees to set higher goals with patient care. Joshua has met the challenges of reaching beyond state and federal regulations regarding dementia education and has inspired a lifelong passion for his employees to have continued growth in patient care. In the nomination letter one of the contributions that Joshua training has impacted is "increased contentment and less frustration among the front line staff."
Joshua is a Certified Dementia Practitioner CDP and a Certified Alzheimer's disease Dementia Care Trainer CADDCT through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioner. LCB Senior Living programming is designed in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital and benefits from both deep training and education of staff and predominance of Certified Dementia Practitioners on staff. LCB Senior Living is one of the fastest growing senior housing companies in the Eastern United states with 21 communities which include Reflections Memory Care for residents with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. NCCDP Educator of the Year is recognized as one of the nation's most prestigious awards for health care education.
