National Christian Foundation (NCF) Moves Into the Top 20 List of U.S. Charities
ATLANTA-BASED CHARITY JUMPS 15 SPOTS TO BECOME THE 19TH LARGEST NON-PROFIT
ATLANTA, Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- According to the new Philanthropy 400 list released on October 17 by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Atlanta-based National Christian Foundation (NCF) has become the 19th largest charity in America. NCF moved up 15 spots on the list with a 61% increase in contributions over last year. National Christian Foundation joins the ranks of other well-known non-profits in the top 20 including Habitat for Humanity International (#13), World Vision (#11), and Schwab Charitable Fund (#7). Overall, NCF has raised over $4 billion in contributions and granted out almost $3 billion since their inception in 1982.
NCF President David Wills said, "We continue to be amazed by the generosity of our givers who have remained committed despite the lagging economy. The key to our increasing growth is our ability to help them multiply the impact of their gifts through tax-wise strategies such as asset-based giving which enables them to donate appreciated securities, business interests, and real estate." The Chronicle's full report (available at www.philanthropy.com) reported that giving remained flat for charities who rely primarily on cash gifts.
Earlier this year, National Christian Foundation launched a nationwide expansion with their 25 affiliates across the country that included a new brand and an updated website. Visitors can log onto www.nationalchristian.com to subscribe to a nationwide giving blog and connect with other givers and generosity experts across the country. The site also offers a wealth of free giving resources to help business owners, professional advisors, churches, and ministries.
