Second Annual Grant Presented at the 2011 National Children's Alliance Leadership Conference
WASHINGTON, June 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, June 7, National Children's Alliance presented $20,000 to Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas, the Texas State Chapter Organization of National Children's Alliance, for winning the 2011 National Children's Alliance Public Awareness Campaign Contest with their campaign titled, "One with Courage." An additional $10,000 was presented to contest runner-up Klamath-Lake Child Abuse Response and Evaluation Services for their campaign titled, "Stop the Hurt Coalition."

Winners of the Public Awareness Campaign have successfully communicated strong messaging around child abuse intervention and prevention via unique public awareness campaigns including visual and/or audio elements (i.e. printed materials, videos, public service announcements, etc.). The winning and runner-up organizations may use granted dollars to fund future community awareness campaigns.
Materials from winning campaigns will be made available in editable/customizable formats to all members of National Children's Alliance for using in localized campaigns. By providing its membership with these award-winning resources, National Children's Alliance is furthering the ability of the children's advocacy movement to raise awareness and engage the general public on the issues of child abuse intervention and prevention.

Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas – Contest Winner - $20,000 Grant
One with Courage is Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc.'s statewide initiative centered on the courage it takes to talk about child sexual abuse. Campaign messaging focuses on how to recognize the signs of child abuse, and thus contribute to widespread prevention efforts. Campaign materials include bi-lingual public service announcements, printable materials (advertisements, postcards, etc.), Internet banner advertising, raw photos, and logos.
Klamath-Lake Child Abuse Response and Evaluation Services – Contest Runner-up - $10,000 grant
Stop the Hurt Coalition is a community-wide collaboration to prevent child abuse and neglect through awareness, advocacy, and education in Klamath County, Oregon. Campaign key messages include: 1) "Child abuse is a hidden secret; it is widespread…and it can be prevented;" 2) Children have a right to be safe…and there are safe places to talk about abuse;" and 3) "Anger is a feeling; violence against children is a choice…and there are alternatives." Campaign materials include audio and visual public service announcements, printable materials (ads, posters, bookmarks, etc.), and outdoor advertising/billboards.
