FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Velosurance, a national bicycle-specific insurance agency, has partnered with Markel Personal Lines insurance and signed a three-year contract to sponsor the Sea Otter Classic Cycling Festival, held in April each year in Monterey, California.
Velosurance is a direct-to-client insurance agency that offers bicycle insurance to cyclists of all disciplines in every U.S. State. The underwriting partner is Markel Personal Lines insurance, a division of Markel Corp., an A rated, U.S. specialty insurance company located in Glen Ellyn, Virginia. Velosurance was founded in 2012 by Dave Williams and Denis Voitenko, both serious cyclists who set out to fix the problem of substandard insurance coverages for all bicycles. The result is a bicycle centric insurance policy providing customized protection for cyclists of all kinds.
Each policy is client built and includes coverage protection for damage to the bicycle caused by theft, crash, collision, attempted theft, vandalism or hitting another object. In addition, coverage for spare parts, cycle apparel, and rental reimbursement, is included at no additional cost.
Optional coverage such as Bicycle Liability to cover injuries or property damage caused by the insured cyclist; Medical Payments to cover medical costs of the bicycle rider, and Uninsured Motorist Protection for medical costs associated with accidents caused by an uninsured automobile. In addition, Roadside Assistance is available that offers a stranded cyclist a service truck ride of up to 35 miles.
Williams and Voitenko are looking forward to exhibiting at Sea Otter Cycling Classic and said, "Velosurance is a direct-to-client insurance provider so Sea Otter is a natural for us to reach the cycling public. There are 70,000+ visitors and 9,500+ athletes who will attend the four day event in April and this is the perfect venue for us to introduce Velosurance to avid cyclists."
Voitenko added: "We are not only insuring a bicycle, we are also insuring our client's lifestyle. We make it our mission to see that our client is back to riding as quickly as possible. Quite often, the claim check arrives before the repair parts. Everyone working at Velosurance is also a rider, so we understand our client's needs and concerns. After a loss, our #1 priority is to get our client back on the bike in the least amount of time."
To enhance its cyclist policy service, Velosurance partners with local bicycle shops nationwide to provide repair or replacement services to Velosurance policyholders. According to Voitenko, "No matter where our client is riding, there will be a Velosurance Trusted Partner bicycle shop nearby." Voitenko added, "And for our clients who find themselves needing legal representation we maintain a national list of attorneys who are also avid cyclists. If you need an attorney, why not an attorney who shares the same passion for cycling as you do."
Velosurance policies are underwritten by Markel American Insurance Company.
