National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) Initiates Advisory Councils for Major Stakeholders
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy™ (NASP™) announced at its Annual Meeting in National Harbor, MD today the creation of Advisory Councils for each of the major stakeholders in the specialty pharmacy industry. The Advisory Councils are: Specialty Pharmacy Providers, Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology Manufacturers, Managed Care Organizations (Health Plans and PBMs), Institutional Pharmacy, and GPOs & Distributors.
"The establishment of Advisory Councils gives a formal voice to all NASP stakeholders with regard to membership, policy, education, and other NASP activities," said Mike Ellis, NASP Board of Directors President. "We will be encouraging members to serve on an Advisory Council and by doing so take a more active role in the progress of NASP and advocacy for the specialty pharmacy industry."
In November, NASP will issue a call for volunteers to all members. The Board of Directors will make the final appointments to each Advisory Council. Membership on a Council is limited to members of NASP, whether via corporate or individual membership. The Advisory Councils are expected to review proposed public policy positions, comment on NASP programs and services, and assist the Board of Directors in establishing the organization's strategic direction.
