National 4-H Council Receives Coveted Charity Navigator Designation
Largest youth development organization earns maximum 4-star rating
CHEVY CHASE, Md., Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National 4-H Council is pleased to announce that it has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator— the premier nonprofit corporation that evaluates charities in the United States—for its sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.
Council received four out of a possible four stars from the popular charity evaluator, earning its third consecutive 4-star rating. The coveted designation now ranks the organization among the top 11 percent of the charities that have received at least three consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that National 4-H Council outperforms most other charities in America.
The designation differentiates Council from its peers and demonstrates trustworthiness to the public. The rating indicates that Council adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.
"We are proud to receive Charity Navigator's 4-star rating for another consecutive year," said Donald T. Floyd, Jr., president and CEO, National 4-H Council. "Receiving such a high ranking reinforces our commitment of accountability and transparency to our longstanding donors and partners who trust and believe in the rewarding philanthropic work that we do."
Charity Navigator's rating system utilizes three dimensions of a charity's operations including financial health, accountability and transparency, and results reporting. Its goal in evaluating nonprofit organizations is to provide donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make. As the most influential charity rater in the United States, Charity Navigator impacts approximately $10 billion of charitable donations each year.
