Nathan Ives Joins Ernst & Young Power & Utilities Advisory Services Practice
NEW YORK, May 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nathan Ives has joined the Advisory Services Group of Ernst & Young LLP as a member of its Power & Utilities practice.
As a seasoned energy industry executive, Ives has more than 18 years of experience in nuclear plant management and consulting including strategic planning, asset and resource management, project management, operational risk management, high risk decision management, organizational alignment and operator performance. Ives brings with him eight years of experience managing and supervising both military and commercial nuclear plant operations.
"We are extremely happy to welcome Nathan Ives to Ernst & Young," said Dana Hanson, Americas Advisory Power & Utilities Leader, Ernst & Young LLP. "Due to recent events in Fukushima, Japan, nuclear energy companies will face intense scrutiny, which has the potential to affect every aspect of their businesses. We are fortunate to have a professional of Nathan's caliber to help our power and utilities clients meet the challenges ahead. His knowledge of this industry and experience in operational risk management will be an asset to our team."
Ernst & Young LLP offers a full range of services through its Power & Utilities advisory services practice. The practice provides strategic, financial, IT, performance improvement and risk management services to companies in the industry.
"Risk management is on everyone's mind right now, especially those in the nuclear power industry," said Ives. "While it is impossible to design a plant for all conceivable conditions, we advise our clients on the global industry's best practices for risk mitigation and response."
Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Ives was senior plant operations evaluator at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), where he led the nuclear industry's effort to redefine performance standards in the areas of operational risk management, high risk decision management, organizational alignment, and plant operations. Ives authored the guidelines and evaluation methods for these areas.
Ives attended the United States Naval Academy and earned a bachelor's degree in physics. He holds an MBA from Kennesaw State University. Ives also earned the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Senior Reactor Operator license and U.S. Navy's Chief Nuclear Engineer qualification.
