CHATSWORTH, Calif., Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Prakash Bhartia, NATEL's Executive Vice President, is a recipient of Canada's Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, bestowed for significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.

The medal was created in 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. Previously, Dr. Bhartia has been recognized as a Member of the Order of Canada and a recipient of the Golden Jubilee Medal.

Over a 25-year career in the Canadian Department of Defense, Dr. Bhartia held four director-level positions and served as Director General of the Defense R&D Laboratories in Halifax and Ottawa. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the IEEE, the Engineering Institute of Canada, The Canadian Academy of Engineers and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. He was awarded the IEEE's McNaughton Gold Medal for outstanding contributions to engineering.
Dr. Bhartia graduated with a B.Tech from the IIT Bombay and earned his MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in Canada. He served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of Engineering at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan.
